Denver Zoo Lights

In Buzz by Sam

On December 20th, Festivals for Life, along with hundreds of children’s and adults of all ages, had the opportunity to attend one of the 30 days of Denver Zoo Lights. The crowd lucked out in the 50-degree weather as attendees got to venture around the 60 acres of the Denver Zoo. Each night during December, the zoo opens at 5:30 with live entertainment, delicious food and hundreds of illuminated animal lights and figurines that run across the lawns, sway through the trees and swim through the water.

While the sun has already set during Zoo Lights, individuals can roam around the park to find elephants, giraffes, penguins and many other animals still wandering around. Our most unexpected encounter was with the zoo’s rhino, who was happily running around and playing with his toys. Some of our favorite stops along the walking loop were the fire dancing woman, the lit-up dragon and elephant, and of course, Santa’s workshop. We also made sure to treat ourselves to some Dippin Dots and popcorn to add to our holiday cheer. The two hours we spent wandering through the zoo exceeded our expectations and we cannot wait to return next year.
