Sending love for all the festival cancellations this year.

There has been wide spread news of festival cancellations for 2016, and it may not be the year for these festival producers. With some high hopes for coming years, there are many other festivals to look forward to even as April kicks off the festival season.

All Good Music Festival, Wakarusa, Squamish Valley Music Festival, Gathering of the Vibes, CounterPoint, Index Festival and TomorrowWorld will not take place this year.

All Good Music Festival and Camp-out

All good after almost 20 years has decided to retire their camp-out festival and replace it with 2-day event at the Merriweather Pavilion near Baltimore.

CounterPoint Music Festival

Atlanta’s CounterPoint Music Festival will be cancelled, leaving EDM fans without their bass fix this year. The announcement came from CounterPoint, unlike rumors of cancellations last year. They share words of continued inspiration, and ask for people to, “Stay tuned,” maybe they will make a comeback.

Gathering of the Vibes

Gathering of the Vibes has decided not to take place this year but makes a clear statement about a “triumphant return in 2017.” One year isn’t so bad right?

Index Fest

Dallas’ Index Festival that combined the ideal of ‘indie’ and ‘next’ making ‘index’ has been cancelled for this year. Their message mentions that it may return but there is no set future and they will be focusing on their other events.

Squamish Valley Music Festival

British Colombia’s Squamish Valley will not be holding their event this year, which usually took place in August and was stacked with big names.  Their website offers no reasoning, but only apologies.

TomorrowWorld

After last year fair share of major issues  and chaos happening at the Atlanta event, this year has been cancelled.  Their cancellation post saying, “Let’s lock and cherish all the magnificent memories in our hearts, this is not farewell…

So TomorrowWorld will return as it seems, hopefully without the hitches of last year’s event.

Wakarusa

Wakarusa announced last December that they would be taking a year off in a light of seemingly untrustworthy interactions on the planning committees. They elude to coming back in future years, so the fate is undecided as of yet, other than no WAKA in 2016.

Other country music festivals such as DegaJam, and Big Barrel Music Festival have cancelled their 2016 year event.

It’s a shame some of these won’t take place this year, but there are many years to come and the summer brings so many festivals all over.  It’s nothing to cry over, just plan around.  It’s almost spring and some festivals are coming up very soon. Break out the costumes, there are still many festivals to get weird at this year.
