The MVPs of Global Dance Festival 2017

In Buzz, Music Festivals by Denver Dance

Imagine you’re 30 feet in the air… freefalling. The crackling of fireworks in the background laced between Kaskade’s radiating melodies. You’re surrounded by tens of thousands of your closest friends. And no, you’re not dead- you’re at Global Dance Festival 2017.

For the 15th anniversary the team at Global Dance took a leap, moving Global Dance Festival from the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater to its new home, ‘Sports Authority’ Field.

While the festival was a raver’s paradise, a significant few stole the show-

Bijou is dance musics next DJ Snake, but cooler and way less French. We’re also pretty certain that he’s Soundcloud royalty, as one of the few producers putting out massive singles every other week. Bijou’s set at Global Dance Festival was more like a poppin’ party rather then a DJ set. Security was dancing, the photographers were getting down. The crowd was goovin’ with dance offs, dance parties, and a lot of booty shaking. We got to hear our favorite Bad & Boujee VIP, Jakai’s – Tales From The Hood, and Bijou’s most recent release, Covered N Money. Like a true G, Bijou’s flare while DJing did not go unnoticed. Bijou would spin back the record while introducing another dark heater – each time, the crowd would party harder. Needless to say, Bijou, the G – House guru is on fire.

Crankdat –

Crankdat was one of the freshest faces performing at Global Dance Festival 2017. And with what you’ve seen from Crankdat so far, it’s only just begun. At the young age of 20, Crankdat has already toured the world, garnered tens of millions of plays, and collaborated with dance music’s biggest names. While his Fetty Wap remix became a club hit, Crankdat assured F4L that he’s got a bunch of forward thinking original music coming soon. We ranked Crankdat as one of Global Dance Festivals most anticipated acts, and he did not disappoint. His onstage presence is as energetic as it gets, while his behind the scenes demeanor is chill and humble. We can’t wait what the future holds for Crankdat.

Crywolf –

Nestled between two mega stages, sat the Tundra stage. The Tundra stage was intimate (first date approved), had perfect sound, and a stellar lineup to back it up. When Crywolf approached the stage, the entire crowd stared with awe at the mystical live set before their eyes. His raw emotion mixed with mystic imagery was captivating. Crywolf’s live set was raw and unlike any at the festival.

The kid with the ‘IN Ha WE TRUST’ totem –

Dear kid in internet land, thank you for providing the world with your ‘#InHaWeTrust’ totem. Someone had to say it! The move this year was significant, but so was the progress. I don’t quite know what’s more exciting then raving on carnival rides…with fireworks. With great power comes great responsibility, and for that, Ha – we thank you.
