Summer is upon us, the weather is clearing up and we are entering the heart of festival season.  It’s impossible to see them all, but FestivalsForLife has narrowed it down to our favorite six music festivals in June.

Wakarusa

Date: June 4 – 7
Location: Ozark, AK
Headliners: Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals , Major Lazer, The Roots, Thievery Corporation, STS9

Why This Music Festival: Taking place on Mulberry Mountain, Wakarusa provides excellent music with a side of beautiful nature. In addition to a great lineup this festival has a costume contest, daily meditation, a farmers market and a lake for fishing (you will need an Arkansas fishing license to partake). Free Press Summer Fest

Date: June 6-7
Location: Houston, TX
Headliners: Skrillex, R.Kelly, Weezer, Steve Angello, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals

Why This Music Festival: The Houston festival, now set to take place at NRG park has been relocating due to heavy flooding in the area. That won’t stop this from being a great weekend. With an extremely versatile lineup this festival is sure to be one you’ll want to check out as the show must go on.

Bonaroo

Date:  June 11-14
Location: Manchester, TN
Headliners: Billy Joel, Mumford & Sons, Deadmau5, Kendrick Lamar, Florence + The Machines, My Morning Jacket, Bassnectar

Why This Music Festival: With a crowd so massive Bonaroo becomes a four day mini city. The festival contains a mini fair, a giant mushroom shaped fountain, comedy and much more.  Music goes until the sun rises, with more mellow acts during the day and EDM until the early morning.  The line-ups aren’t too shabby either.

Firefly

Date:  June 18-21
Location: Dover, DE
Headliners:  Paul McCartney, Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Snoop Dogg, Foster The People, Morrisey, Zedd, Modest Mouse, Bastille

Why This Music Festival: Set in Dover, Delaware the scenery of this festival is enough to blow away any festival goer away. On top of a knock-out lineup the festival also features its own beer, Firefly Ale made by local brewery Dogfish Head. If you are looking for late night dancing then checkout “The Thicket,” the silent disco tucked away in the festival forest.

Secret Solstice

Date: June 19-21
Location: Reylkavik, Iceland
Headliners: Wu-Tang, The wailers, FKA Twigs, Kelis

Why This Music Festival: Set during the “Summer Solstice,” this Icelandic festival allows you to party at at any time, as the sun never sets for three straight days. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing festival this one is not for you. Secret Solstice calls themselves “the most unique event on planet Earth.”

Electric Forest

Date: June 25-28
Location: Rothbury, MI

Why This Music Festival:  This festival sold out within an hour of releasing tickets. It’s not a surprise. Up in Rothbury, Michigan Electric Forest provides a magical experience for festival goers. It features a forest filled with hammocks, art work, stages and more. This is one festival that you have to go to in order to understand the madness.
