CHERUB Feat. Hippie Sabotage Concert Review

In Buzz, Music by Chloe

CHERUB exceeded expectations with their new live band for their So…You DTF? tour featuring Hippie Sabotage and Shooka. I attended their show at Track 29 in Chattanooga, Tn, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting Chattanooga to deliver. I’d never been to a concert in a smaller city, so I wrongfully assumed the concerts would be sub par. As the night went on, I was pleasantly surprised.

The first act didn’t go on until 9pm, which I loved because who wants the party to end early? Hippie Sabotage took the stage about an hour later and got the crowd riled up with their remixes of the hits we all love. They had the crowd jumping and sweating before CHERUB even took the stage.

When CHERUB finally graced the crowd with their presence everyone went wild. In front of me, a girl with fantastically blue hair was screaming with her phone held high. She must have had a five minute long Snapchat story by the end of the show. To my left was a middle-aged man who was slightly balding but had hair to his shoulders and a full beard. He held his beer by his chest with both hands and eyes wide like he was a pre-teen at his first concert. Behind me was a young man whom I never got a clear look at, but hugged me and sighed as he put his head on my shoulder and made what I imagine to have been googly eyes at the band. I never had the heart to tell him to buzz off. He just seemed so happy. CHERUB really knows how to draw a crowd.

The show was pretty damn good. Jason Huber ended up crowd surfing at one point. Jordan Kelley came off the stage and walked along the barrier to serenade the crowd. The blue-haired girl even got a personalized Snapchat with Jordan to add to her story. They had an encore of three songs, and rounded up the eve with their popular single “Doses & Mimosas” as the crowd sang every word.

After the show, I insisted to my friend that we wait and see if we could catch either Jason or Jordan so she could get a picture with them. (We were celebrating her birthday weekend). By the grace of the music gods, we did end up catching Jordan and shared a celebratory drink. And I’m pleased to tell you, he’s just as chill as Cherub’s music. So be sure to check out the band’s new online merch and of course, their music.
