San Francisco based producer, Cole Smithers, has been making tracks using unique sounds. His latest, the “Pinecone Song” uses only the sounds of pinecones to create an entire song that will chill you out. Here is what Cole had to say about his latest song:
“This is a beat I made using nothing but sounds made by pinecones. I didn’t use any synths to get the melodic sounds; I used one of the granular warp modes in ableton to make the chords by stretching a sample of a pinecone whooshing through the air and reducing the grain size until it produced a pitch. Then I duplicated it and transposed it a few times to make chords out of it. The choir-like sounds are from the sound of a pinecone being flicked; it’s just a small portion of the sample being looped extremely fast so it created a pitch.”
