By now anyone who has listened to deep house in the past year has heard the name Oliver Heldens, and maybe even heard about his new label, Heldeep Records. After dropping a song titled “Crank It Up” by an unknown artist HI-LO, Heldens came out saying he was in fact the one behind the record, and HI-LO was a new enigmatic alias. The reason for this new alias was the fact it allowed Heldens to drop new music with some freedom, without the expectations of the normal deep house sound he features. It also let Heldens show another side of his deep house ingenuity which is truly captured with his newest track, “Renegade Mastah”, an almost industrial and bass heavy banger with a crazy beat. It seems as Heldens alter ego will continue to drop new and innovative music, lucky enough for us.
