Four Tet is eternally the acoustic compass by which I navigate the electronic genre. He is one of the artists that I most readily suggest to those unfamiliar with the depth and warmth that that it is possible to achieve with synthetic production. His remix of the Swedish DJ Eric Prydz manages to preserve the incredible crescendo of the original while expanding upon the melody and rhythmic current. The result is a less clubby and more nuanced progressive ballad that no less sweet for its commensurate duration. It is a epic testament to the extent which an articulate exploration of repetition can move and stimulate the listener while not wearing out its welcome upon subsequent listens. It is a delightfully deciduous sample of the direction that a persistent vein of electronic music is evolving, like a snowball gathering the momentum of all the influence from the new sounds and combinations of music brought to the public in the last few years. It is, very simply, the sort of song that makes one feel excited to share with someone else and to that end, I am a happy writer.
