F4L Gets Up Close & Personal With ATL’s The Night Shift

In Buzz by Chavon

As promised, we’ve been following Atlanta’s own – The Night Shift …and recently had the pleasure of sitting down with them for some good ole’ Q&A.

Band Members:

We are Anthony, Jon, and Kegan.

How did The Night Shift form?

Back in 2014, Anthony and his friend Cameron Crum (the first bassist) began writing music together very consistently and decided they needed a drummer. Anthony met TNS.’s first drummer at a restaurant he worked at called Pure Taqueria, and Tom Hilton (bartender at the time), shared interest in becoming the drummer. Two months after we started playing together, we sat over candle light, as the power was out, and started going over band names since we had our first show in a week and we definitely needed a name to represent us. Something about all of the hard work and late nights we work to get by resonated with the name when it came up, so we stuck with it, The Night Shift. just felt right.

Tell us about any community initiatives/service/organizations you are involved with and why?

This year we took part in a charity event at the mammal gallery in support of Bernie Sanders to help fundraise money for his campaign. All in all, over two grand was raised that night.

We’re also  part of Atlanta’s DIY music community started by local musicians to help connect and promote other local artists in the area.

How did the Big Red Tour come about?

LOTS of emails and a huge inspiration to travel and expand in our region. Before we got out on the road, we had to secure a vehicle, and we found a nice 1990 Ford E150 that was beautiful, big, and red. She adopted the nick name “Big Red” so we thought, “Why not commemorate this vehicle that is a huge milestone for us, by naming the tour after her”? And that’s how that came to be.

What are your top five favorite ATL venues to play?

Smith’s Olde Bar

Mammal Gallery

The Masquerade

Terrarium Studios

All the Random Houses for House Shows

Who would play your characters in The Night Shift biopic?

Anthony – Aziz Ansari

Kegan – Skinny Zach Galifianakis

Jon – Bo Burnham

What can we expect from The Night Shift in the future??

More shows and more music! Among other shows this summer, we’re excited to say we’ll be playing at Park Tavern for Sunset Sessions on July 3rd with Pujol and Baby Baby. Leading up to that, we’ll be releasing a live studio session, accompanied by live videos for those songs, and we’re in the middle of planning a fall tour. This summer we’re also planning to take some time to start writing our first full length LP, so keep an eye out for a bunch of new fun things from us!

More to come on their tunes as F4L gives you exclusive coverage!
