On May 25th, Elephant Revival, the five piece folk band hailing from Nederland, Colorado will fill The Troubadour in Los Angeles with eclectic songs that tell stories of new beginnings, love, nature, and much more. Joining them for a special show is the mellow yet spunky Steve Poltz, who will not only open for Elephant Revival, but also join the band on stage for the headlining act. He is best known for writing Jewel’s 1995 hit, You Were Meant For Me, but Poltz has since garnered fans as a solo guitarist singing positive and never-too-serious jams.
Formed in 2006, Elephant Revival utilizes many different instruments from the saw, the stand-up bass, their unique voices, and even washboards (look out for lead vocalist Bonnie Paine’s washboard solo!) to stir emotions into their listeners they didn’t know were there. Their songwriting is poetic and music uplifting.
Growing in popularity year by year, Elephant Revival just played their second headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO, an impressive feat that any Colorado local band can only dream of. They also recently played a show with the Colorado Symphony, a testament to the fact that their music is more than folk – it is an artistic culmination of all sounds and instruments that accompany their vocals perfectly. And now playing the Troubadour, a venue that only seats 500, Elephant Revival is an act you do not want to miss!
It will also be exciting to watch Steve Poltz mesh with Elephant Revival. His laid back, fun-loving energy and impressive guitar playing will give Elephant Revival a new dimension that they may not always have. And seeing him with a more folky, upbeat side will be special to see.
