Kansas City native, Ryan Summers makes up My Pet Monster, an artist that has a knack for blending lots of different genre’s into his own creation. He describes it as putting “a new school spin on a classic era of American music. Blending Electro and Ghetto Swing, Glitch Hop, Ghetto Funk, Blues, and Future Bass, he cross-pollinates both old and new styles to create what can only be described as an upbeat, funky sound which has mass-appeal among audiences everywhere.” His sound reminds us of Parov Stelar meeting the glitch genre. Most of his songs mix oldies with a distinctive glitch sound. We are showcasing one of our favorites, “Baton Rouge Bounce.” The song incorporates his typical glitch sound mixed with swing and sax. My Pet Mosnter is currently touring around California, so keep your eye out if you’re on the west coast.
