Yonder Mountain String Band lit up the famous venue, Stubbs, in Austin, TX to get the month of April started off just right! Yonder, as they are called for short, is an upbeat bluegrass jam band group that hails from Nederland, Colorado. The show consisted of five very talented musicians each specializing in their own string instrument: Adam Aijala (guitar), Ben Kaufmann (bass), Dave Johnston (banjo), Allie Kral (fiddle), and Jake Jolliff (mandolin). The bluegrass jam band knows how to make the crowd dance, smile and simply just have a good time! All of the Yonder musicians have superb talent and are masters of their instrument. In particular I couldn’t take my eyes off of Jake Jolliff and Allie Kral, the newest members of the band. It looked as if their finger were moving at the speed of light during their solos.

Yonder did not let up, playing two sets that included an encore. The band’s sets were a mix of old songs, songs of their newest album and some grassy covers. Highlights of the show definitely had to be their encore covers of Lou Reed’s Walk On The Wild Side and Phish’s Scent of a Mule.

If you couldn’t make it to the show it was available for live stream on Tour Gigs. You can also catch Yonder on their upcoming tour which includes performances at Summer Camp Music Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Northwest String Summit and a show at Red Rocks in Morison, Colorado.
