10 Things That Made Buku Extra Special

In Music Festivals by JoLow

1) The VIP Riverboat

Riverboat

Buku takes place directly on the Mississippi River, and if you are willing to pay the extra $200 VIP for this festival is completely worth it.  It is filled with private intimate concerts, a great view of the main stage and best of all an open bar. Most of the shows in Riverboat only had about 30-50 people in attendance. It’s pretty hard to beet that at a festival with about 15,000
2) The Indoor Stages

Inside

The indoor stages at Buku were a perfect way to keep stages close together without having to worry about noise interference. It gave the electronic shows a real type of warehouse party vibe which ignited the crowd. Rap shows were also great at the indoor stages. Tents are usually the norm, Buku is not ordinary.

3) Keeping It New Orleans

Definitely a highlight of the festival was seeing the classic NoLA style marching band getting their jam on. The feeling was that of a Mardi Grass parade. For an out-of-towner this a great touch.

4) The Graffiti Art Structure

Seeing art at Festivals is always a treat. Seeing art being created at festivals is even better. Buku is not just about music, and this amazing display glowed throughout the entire festival. The best part was watching the progress of this display throughout the festival.

5) Bassnectar Bringing It

Bass

Bassnectar did not disappoint as a headliner. He played one of the final shows of the festivals ignited the entire Buku crowd with a set that involved a lot of trap compared . Bassnectar fans were definitely happy to hear him play “Magical World.”

6) The Back Alley Stage

The smallest stage of the festival was tucked away in the back on the opposite side of the entrance was the perfect place to go for anyone looking to bust a move. There were plethora of different electronic artists and a crowd that was looking for a good time. Directly on the water this was Buku’s best hidden secret.

7) Buku After Shows

The party didn’t have to end at 1AM. Buku was filled with a multitude of late night after shows. Porter Robinson, STS9, and Grizz were some of the tops. This was also a fantastic way for visitors to see some of New Orleans best venues.

8) Portugal The Man’s Cover Of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia “Day Man”

For Anyone who witnessed this….Just Yes!

9) Festival Goers Resting On The Boardwalk

Boardwalk

Sometimes people get a little tired at festivals, and nothing was better than seeing this take place on the boardwalk. Buku festivals goers congregated, ate, and napped all across the boardwalk making it an entertaining place to walk through.
