If you enjoy an eclectic mix of psych-soul, rock, hell even a touch of hip-hop, then Los Coast is the band for you! Their music gives off a vibe that not only makes you nostalgic, but also excited about the future. Luckily for Austinites, Los Coast plays every Thursday at C-Boy’s Heart & Soul (@CBoysHeartNSoul) on South Congress. Catch them at ten o’clock at the intimate atmosphere C-Boy’s provides, and you will definitely not leave unsatisfied, although maybe a little bit funked out.
Los Coast principal members are “Stax-worthy” lead vocalist Trey Privott; multi-instrumentalist John Courtney on lead guitar; and calm, cool, and collected Megan Hartman slappin the base. Trey Privott brings out an atmosphere that makes you wonder, where in the world did he get that? Its not just gospel, its not just rock, it’s everything. His inspiration comes from all genres of music, including jazz in which is uncle Hiram Bullock first introduced him too. John Courtney instills a creativity that reassures you that you have absolutely no idea what genre of music they are playing, but whatever it is, it’s awesome. John has a keen sense for artistic compilation with a vast array of musical background, including attending the Berklee College of Music. The third pivotal member of Los Coast, Megan Hartman, cements their unique quality. A badass girl bassist, now that’s something I want to see! If your lucky, they might even bring out their full band, where you get even more inspiration with smooth keys and beautiful backup singers.

As an Austinite myself, I am proud to have Los Coast influence Austin’s local music scene. With their unique quality and “Keep Austin Weird” mix, there is no telling what their bright future holds for them, but for now I’ll just sit back and enjoy the tunes they produce.
