LA based producer, Anakim, released his highly anticipated EP, ‘Veins,’ on September 6th. The highlight track off the EP is also called ‘Veins’ and features dark/mysterious progressive techno. Anakim recently supported Lane 8’s This Never Happened Tour and was an official artist for HARD’s Holy Ship 9.0.
Quote from Understated – “Understated is proud to welcome San Diego native and Los Angeles local favorite, Anakim to the Understated Recordings roster, and celebrate his label debut with the ‘Veins EP’. We’ve been fortunate to see these tracks leave crowds shook on some of LA’s most revered dance floors, from Sound Nightclub to The Fonda, where he’s shared the stage with the likes of Jeremy Olander, Matt Lange, and Lane 8.”
Veins is is full of haunting themes and textures, powerful bass and brass hits, all of which culminate in Anakim’s signature sound. Unrelenting arpeggios paint the vocals: “It’s coursing through your veins.” You might never be the same after hearing this one. Discobelle calls it a, “Galloping, seriously dark techno thumper.”
Every bit as strong as the EP’s title track, Stranger Things is equally sinister, sans vocal. From captivating builds and swells to clever, syncopated bass lines that seem to flutter off into deep space, this track is no B side.
