The summer beckons with a plethora of festivals and events to attend. The most famous quandary before leaving for the festivals…
What do I need to bring?
Here are a few recommended items to make your festival experience:
WATER.
Many festivals will have water available, but having a few gallons at your camp makes so much sense. The more that you have available to you, in theory, the more that you will be inclined to drink.
Festivals can be taxing on the body, with the dancing, the sunshine, late hours and little sleep increase the need for water in the body. So bring a few gallons, and make sure to pack a reusable water bottle possibly with a carabiner (for easy clipping and carrying) so that you can have a great time and stay hydrated.
Gummy Vitamins or some Emergen-c packets.
These are like yummy gummy candies, but pack a nutritional punch when the activities have worn you down. The B6 and B12 vitamins will give a natural energy boost, and the other vitamins will keep you flowing. Or the packets are jamming with all the essential vitamins and give yourself a nutritional boost. They are also great for a hangover.
They aren’t candy though, don’t eat them all, but share with your new cute friends. 😉
Baby Wipes.
Listen, baby wipes are key. Clean up hands, feet, clothes, car, private zones, armpits whenever they need freshening. These come in so handy, and are an absolute must for Burning Man to Bonnaroo.
Toilet Paper.
Porta-potties are quite the adventure. Sometimes disgusting, sometimes fine, but it will make your life so much easier to bring a your own roll to ensure that you can handle business when leaving the camp. Baby wipes don’t apply here, leave those at camp.
Coconut Oil.
I’ve got 99 problems, but coconut oil will solve 86 of them. Use this for a sexy massage, slick your hair back, apply generously to a sun burn before going to sleep, remedy chapped lips, slather it on to make sure you have silky soft skin when dancing up on that cutie at the sunrise set.
Baby wipe your hands first though, don’t contaminate the jar.
A trash bag or a couple of them.
Pack it in, take it out with you. Don’t be a jerk and leave a mess, pick up all the little pieces of trash, double bag it and put it in the proper receptacle.
Power packed snacks.
Granola bars, yummy protein bars, power packed snacks that can be eaten quickly and the night or morning can move on. These bars are meant to sustain energy while exercising and being active, making them a great addition to the festival kit.
There are many other decisions to make, but with a festival kit that keeps you going and doesn’t leave you drained, dehydrated and malnourished in your weekend extravaganza, it will make the transition back in to the world an easier one.
Oh yeah, definitely bring the tutu, the hammock and extra face paint.
Happy festivaling!
