Put on those dancing shoes, because Stepcat just released a new EP called “The Jitterbug” that will get you moving. Combing funk and jazz with straight up glitch, these tracks hold quite a punch. As Stepcat likes to describe it:
In a few years, it will be the 20’s all over again… and the jazz and funk is coming back tenfold! The 4th cousin of glitchy swing and the unheralded funk master who goes by “Dave” is set to make his mark with the project “Stepcat” and we couldn’t be more excited based on his first ever release – the “Jitterbug” EP. Hold on to your hat and prepare for a new definition of glitch hop – one that requires a refined definition for bass music.
“Gastric Funk” leads the way with classic instrumentals that break into some tasty breaks and funk that are complemented by a ground-shaking bass. “Jitterbug” has all the delicious morsels of a swing classic, punctuated by amazing wobbles and massive uptempo dance melodies. “Piano Dentist” has stomach-churning glitch breaks to aid a repetitive jazz-style breakdown which gives the EP lots of interesting flavor. Brace for emotion with the midtempo funk jam “Dark Skies,” featuring Kalika, which throws down a wonderful drum beat in addition to an epic solo. Grab the “Jitterbug” EP now!
