They’re dads. They’re musicians. They’re all around cool guys. And they’re in a band called Pale Houses that’ll make you rethink the stereotype of a Nashville musician.
Last week I had the privilege of meeting frontman Aaron Robinson of Pale Houses, and he mentioned the band was performing that night at The East Room in Nashville, TN. He said I had to go because they were opening for this amazing touring band called Pure Bathing Culture, so I figured why not? Now, I had never heard any of these bands and had no idea what I was going to get.
I later found out there was a great reason for not having heard of Pale Houses before now. The band has had four babies, three of which had the same projected due date, since their 4 song EP was released in 2013. Obviously it’s pretty difficult to keep band practice going with a bunch of newborn babies around.
As the band started their first song I thought, Alright, decent rock band. This could be good. But when Aaron hit his first note I couldn’t help but hear Ben Bridwell, lead singer of Band Of Horses. Pale Houses definitely carried their own sound, but with a bigger production I could easily see them being just as well liked and successful as Band Of Horses.
Pale Houses does have plans of making more music and booking more shows now that parenthood is starting to get under wraps. Be sure to follow the band on Facebook and watch for their upcoming shows. If you’re in town, it’ll be worth it!
