6 Reasons Size Doesn’t Always Matter – When It Comes To Music Festivals

In Buzz, Music Festivals by JoLow

Often times music festivals are associated with Bonaroo, Coachella and Lollapalooza. What do all these have in common? Big artists, big hype and massive crowds. Large scale festivals are certainly great, but there are many reasons why size doesn’t always matter when it comes to music festivals.

1) It’s Easy to Get From Place to Place

When a festival contains over five stages spread through a massive amount of land it can often take 15-20 minutes just to get from one stage to another. While all this is happening you are missing your favorite artists. At smaller festivals there are fewer stages and the area is way less spread out.  Walking from one stage to another is as easy as walking across the street.

2) Start Seeing Similar Faces

Music festivals are all about making new friends and meeting new people. While attending a small festival it easy to start recognizing those wonderful smiling faces.  At a small festival it’s as if you are a part of a community, not just a festival.

3) Opportunities to Meet Artists

Often times at smaller festivals artists will not only play at the festival, but they will take part in it as well. Why not! If the festival goers are having a good time the artists should be able to enjoy the fun too. It’s rare to see this at a massive festival, but at a smaller and low key fest, artists can easily be found mingling with the rest of the festival goers.

4) No More Conflicts

With massive line-ups, comes massive conflicts, scheduling conflicts that is. Major music festivals will always have conflicting shows making it stressful and difficult to catch all the acts that a festival goer wants to see. Smaller festivals have fewer shows, fewer artists and one happy festival going crowd that can catch them all.

5) No Huge Crowds

Standing shoulder to shoulder with absolutely no room is no way to enjoy a music. When a festival packs in 100,000+ people it is hard to get anywhere near the stage without standing on top of your neighbors. At smaller festivals you can get close to the front and enjoy plenty of dancing space.

6) Nothing But Chill Vibes

Often times the general vibe at a smaller music festival is filled with people who are all there to celebrate their love of music and even more their love of music festivals. People are all there to have a good time, make new friends and dance. Any true festival lover will appreciate the vibe at a smaller music festival.

Make sure to choose your festivals wisely. Remember that size doesn’t always matter when it comes to music festivals!
