Nicolas Jaar is something of a seminal feature in today’s soundscape. The Chilean multi-instrumentalist manages to craft such mellifluous rhythms and articulate compositions that you feel the enormity of what may be accomplished with electronic production. Jaar embraces a singular sort musical style rooted in downtempo and minimalistic house, notable for atypically slow beats enveloped in sonorous vocals and basslines so deep that you can feel them in your rib cage. Seattle has Decibel Festival to thank for having abetted Jaar’s Pacific Northwest debut under his solo moniker as well as his wonderful project Darkside in collaboration with David Harrington a few years ago and we are immensely fortunate to host his return so soon. Jaar will be performing the opening night of the twelfth iteration of Decibel alongside locals IG88 and Stimmhalt at the Showbox Market on September 23rd.
